How Fulani herdsmen ruined my farm in Osun State – Babatunde

Prince Oluwalogbon Adeniyi Babatunde, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Hayur Global Resources Limited with subsidiaries like Hayuur Automobiles, Hayur Farms and Agro-Allied, Osun State, and Hayur Borehole Drilling, Ibadan, Oyo State. He is a graduate of Urban and Regional Planning, Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke, Osun State. He holds other five diplomas from five different colleges from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In this interview, he talks about how he lost millions of Naira to the Fulani herdsmen during the invasion of his farmlands, which was built with state of the art facilities, in Kuta, Osun State.

Talking about the Nigerians in Diaspora investing in Nigeria, which the Nigerian government has been clamoring for. What is your stance on this?

It was a journey is futile. I will advise if you are doing well for yourself wherever you are before you make such a move never do it without plan B, C D…

You are once into farming in Nigeria, how was the experience?

It was a bitter experience.

Are there enabling environments to operate as an entrepreneur?

Hmmmmmmmmm….there is an audio enabling environment. It is only good in the pages of newspapers. It is affecting many Nigerians abroad psychologically.

Sometimes in 2019, February precisely, Fulani herdsmen attacked your farm in Osun State and set all your investments ablaze. What was your reaction than when it happened?

That was a very bitter experience. I left the farm sometimes around 6:45 pm on that horrible day back to my base in Ibadan. That is where I used to come daily to farm in Kuta. Did you ask why? Because I’m very passionate about farming, the following morning, my manager called me around 7 am and informed me about the farm been set ablaze without anyone knowing where the fire came from.

Aren’t you report the attack to constituted authority in Nigeria?

I reported and nothing was done about it. The officer in charge said there is no culprit.

What was the response of police and traditional rulers to this?

I reported to my Royal father, the Olowu of Kuta Kingdom but yet nothing was forthcoming.

Now, that you are no more doing farming, what are you now into?

I am now into the importation of information technology materials from China to Cote-Divoire courtesy of my dad.

If you were the Nigerian President, with these herdsmen crises, what are the decisive decisions to be taken?

There is a need for a holistic review of our grazing law. I have been to several countries around the globe with my experience open grazing is alien.

Last week, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, went to Ibarapa to give Fulanis in the areas 7 days ultimatum to vacate the area, according to him, he was shot by these Fulanis, which led to the burning of their huts. What do you have to say about this?

I once met him in Osogbo a few years back, he has been a freedom fighter from time immemorial. Though his steps could set the nation on fire he took the bull by the horn. That was very tiring.

What are your fears/doubts about this nation-state called Nigeria?

As a student of history with my political background, the best gift for every Nigerian right now is to go back to the regional government. Right now the center can no longer hold.

What is your advice to potential agricultural investors eyeing farming like yours in Nigeria especially Southwesterners?

My candid advice is for the potential investor to have alternative means so when the non-expected happen there would be something to fall back on.

FINALLY!!! Tinubu Lists Conditions For Open Debate With Peter Obi

Tinubu Peter Obi

The All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, has listed conditions his counterpart from the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi, must meet before engaging in a debate with him.

Tinubu said he would engage Obi in a debate after he released his manifesto for Nigerians to scrutinize.

Speaking through the spokesman of his campaign team, Festus Keyamo, Tinubu said Obi should also list his achievements during his tenure as governor of Anambra State before any debate can hold.

Keyamo said Obi should name any political party he formed.

He said Obi should disclose those he had mentored in politics who are still with him before asking for a debate.

“Before Obi can stand shoulder to shoulder with Asiwaju to debate, he should first release a manifesto for scrutiny; then he should list his tangible achievements as Governor of Anambra State compared to the tangible achievements of Asiwaju as Governor of Lagos State.

“Then he should list those he has mentored in politics from the days of his being Governor who is still with him now; then he should tell us any political party he has either formed or partnered to form and which he still belongs to today.”

Okocha Reveals Senegal’s Strength At The World Cup (See What He Said)

Nigerian legend, Austin Jay Jay Okocha, has hailed the Teranga Lions of Senegal for their ‘heart’.

According to Okocha, Aliou Cissé’s side are fearless, and believe they can beat any team at the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Senegal booked their place in the World Cup Round of 16 on Tuesday night after beating Ecuador 2-1.

The AFCON champions will face England in the knockout stage this weekend.

Speaking on SuperSport, Okocha said,

“One good thing that this Senegalese team has got right from years back is heart. They are fearless and they believe they can beat anybody.

“Also, the character of their manager has been passed on to this team. I managed to play with him, he was not the most brilliant player, but he had heart.

“You can see from this Senegalese team that what they’ve going for them now is team spirit because they’re missing crucial individual players like [Sadio] Mane, who finished second in the Ballon d’Or.”
