Even as the “sorosoke” generation seems to be waxing stronger with  calls for improvement in the quality of governance, Tioluwalogo Olakunbi-Black from the Fagbongbe family of Ejemu-Iloro compound in Igbajo community of Boluwaduro local government area has indicated interest in running for the Osun state house of assembly; Boripe/Boluwaduro state constituency.

The very young Community Development and Youth Empowerment Advocate with cross sectorial experiences in Media, Tech, Entertainment, Academics and Marketing opens up on why he decided to join the race for the state house of assembly.

He will most definitely be contesting with established politicians for the top legislative seat in the state under the umbrella of Young Progressive Party (YPP).

While speaking to newsmen in his Lagos residence, the progressive youth leader noted that it was time for youths to take a seat in decision making process of the State.

“Young people can no longer sit and watch from the sidelines, I think it’s time to take a seat at the table and contribute to our democratic process.”

The legislative arm of government which is known for formulating the will of the state by making laws and providing oversight for the executive, remains a vital stakeholder in the modern democratic process. From representation, deliberation, authorizing expenditure and checkmating executive activities, the legislative arm of government remains an essential institution in the modern democratic process.

“I decided to contest for this position because of my firm resolve to contribute to Nation building through community development and the law making process of the state and provide better representation for the good people of Boripe/Boluwaduro LGAs”.

As a youth who understands the plight of the young people in our local communities, he believes that nation building can happen one community at a time.

“In a representative democracy like ours, I believe everyone has a role to play and achieving a critical mass in the legislature remains an important requisite for policy making and influencing social change”.

Furthermore, the digital transformation enthusiast believes that the use of technology and culture could aid social change and overall transformation.

“Digital technology can be used to transform society and improve the lives of people all over the world and Nigeria, Osun state in particular shouldn’t be left out in the wave of digital transformation that is currently blowing all over.”

He further called on youths of the state and by extension Nigeria as a whole to participate in the political process by contesting for political offices and voting for their preferred candidatesduring elections.
